character design - casimir
Aug 01, 2026current read - left hand of darkness by ursula le guin (1969)
Another character design up! This is my novel’s antagonist, Casimir Lacrimiscu, vampire prince.

The rococo influence is much stronger here versus Sonatine’s initial design. I wanted a big red silk cloak, lots of drama, a la Alexander McQueen savage beauty couture. The man is a fop, but he’s an evil fop.
This is the second round of design, below is the first phase.

There is some more Transylvanian folk influence there in the sash itself, but I decided to keep this minimal in the blouse / vest combo. He’s royalty! He doesn’t want to feel like a peasant.
I’ve also been playing with the idea of him wearing a mask in lieu of a crown. His nickname is The White Lion, so a lion’s mask would be most appropriate.
